The council is unhappy that politicization of development goals is
slowing the pace of development.
It wants politics detached from the development of what the council
calls The-Ghana-We-Want agenda for the next 50 years.

Opuni-Frimpong told Joy FM's Fred Smith Ghanaians from all walks of
life – traditional rulers, politicians, academicians, religious
leaders, business owners, young people – are all expressing some
interests and expectations in their discourse.
"Now what we should do as a people is to put all these interests
together into short term, long term planning and move the nation
towards a non-partisan direction."
He underscored: "If we don't do that, development efforts become
firefighting. So we think with all the interest being expressed as a
country, we should be able to pause, do deep thinking and reflection
and answer question like what is the Ghana we want the next 50 years
for our children and the young people."
Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong maintained that if the nation is able to plan
ahead, "we will save ourselves from a situation where political
parties impose partisan manifesto upon the nation".
When the nation decides on the kind of Ghana it wants, he said, "the
various political parties would only come in to tell us how they will
get us there."
The call by the Christian Council, he said, is in line with Agenda
2063 by the African Union.
