Fallout from CMS fire: Top officials face interdiction today

Several officials in charge of the Central Medical Stores face interdiction as Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Mensah is set to make an announcement Monday.
The facility was consumed by fire last week, destroying medical supplies and equipment worth over GHȼ230 million.
Joy News sources close to the Ministry indicate that a number of top directors at the Ghana Health Service will be affected.
These top officials include Director Procurement and Supply, Ministry of Health, Smauel Boateng, Director Supply Stores and Drug Management, Ghana Health Service, Dr Kwesi Addai Donkor and Head of Stores at the Central Medical Stores, Abdul Karim Iddrisu.
Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng reports that damning findings in the interim fire report disclosed, the facility failed to meet critical fire safety requirements and did not have a fire certificate.
The report also found inconsistencies in the accounts given by the facility managers on the cause of the fire and also pointed to negligence.
