COVID-19 Taskforce Enforces Face Mask Wearing With Clean-Up Exercise

The Sunyani coronavirus disease (COVID-19) preventing Taskforce has undertaken compulsory clean-up exercise to reenforced the mandatory wearing of face mask in the Municipality as ordered by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

During it operations, the Taskforce ensures every single individual in Sunyani buy and wear a face mask, do away with any activity to form social gathering, observed the social distancing, as well as regular hand washing, being it basic but very necessary protocols to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

But, recalcitrant persons Sunyani who behaves as if nothing is as stake and do not border to wear a face mask while in a public place and adhere to the other safety protocols were now compelled by the Taskforce to do so.

They were forced to desilt choked gutters and weed bushy areas while some were also ordered to sweep, pick and clear rubbish on the streets and the market areas in Sunyani.

This, Superintendent Haruna Alhassan, the Taskforce Commander told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) would help clean the ‘city’ and also serve as a deterrent to arrogant residents who always violate directives and preventive measures and go contrary to the protocols to stop the spread of the COVID-19 in the Municipality.

GNA observed that drivers and passengers on board private and commercial vehicles without face masks in Sunyani were also ordered by the Taskforce to undergo the clean-up exercise as cautioning punishment.

Supt. Alhassan said no individual, regardless of gender, age and profession found in town or any public place in Sunyani without face mask would be exempted from this form of punishment because no one knows who at which point was carrying the virus.

Some residents who spoke to GNA expressed excitement and cooperation with the Taskforce in that regard.

Mr. Ernest Adu, a drug store attendant applauded the Taskforce and ‘city’ authorities for the “restless effort to protect and save people of Sunyani from this COVID-19”.
