Ghanaian gospel musician Joyce Blessing has recounted the emotional experience that followed her first time hearing her new song “Victory” which she said was written and directed by fellow artist Kuami Eugene free of charge.

She disclosed that Kuami Eugene had offered to write the song for her and she later met him in his studio to listen to it for the first time.

The song’s lyrics and Kuami Eugene’s generosity overwhelmed her so much that she cried and hugged him for about half an hour, she narrated on UTV’s United Showbiz program which was monitored by Newshuntermag.com.

The “I Swerve” hitmaker said what surprised him the most was Kuami Eugene’s refusal to take any payment or royalties associated with the song.

“When I heard the song, I cried because it touched my heart. I hugged him for like 30 minutes. I thanked him a lot because I was truly surprised by what he did. It’s not easy for an artist to write a song for another artist nowadays and that is one of the things I appreciated, and also how he decided to just offer the song to me without anything like revenue in return. He also directed the video and took charge of everything on set. I was very grateful for what he did,” she said.

She added that even though “Victory” was given to her as a gift, she would continue to credit Kuami Eugene wherever she finds herself.

“When someone writes a song for you, there are terms to it. The person is entitled to a certain percentage when the song goes out there. But Kuami Eugene told me he was giving the song to me from his heart and that whatever money comes out of it is mine, but of course, I will always credit him.”
