Iam Tongi has been crowned the American Idol 2023 (Season 21) winner.
Following weeks of heated competition, themed musical nights, emotional backstories, and surprising departures, the winner was announced on Sunday.
The final contest was between Megan Danielle, Iam Tongi, and Colin Stough.
Tongi performed his song “I’ll Be Seeing You” and also delivered a cover of “Monsters” in a special duet with James Blunt.
Megan Danielle was this season’s runner-up, while Stough was in the third position.
After his victory, Tongi, 18, who seemed shocked spoke with ET’s Denny Directo.
“I need a while it to set in, man, you know what I mean?”
When his name was announced by the host Ryan Seacrest, Tongi disclosed he was stunned.
The American Idol 2023 (Season 21) winner further talked about what he will be taking away from the experience. He places a value on the friends he made along the way, especially his fellow finalists.
“Everyone over here man. You know? I know for a fact we’re not going to lose connection,” he stated while beaming.
