Do Not Politicize Agriculture Interventions Of The State – SYDA President Pleads

The President of Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA), Atta Akoto Senior has pleaded with the government and political parties not to politicize agricultural interventions of the state.

He made this plea at the International Youth Day Celebration in Sunyani, the capital of the Bono Region, on Thursday, August 12, 2021, which was covered by Newshuntermag.com.

Themed “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) collaborated with the National Youth Authority (NYA) to mark the day.

The SYDA President also mentioned the negative effect that the politicization of agriculture interventions will have on the country.

“…Since hunger and famine do not possess a party card, but a sharp intruder that can rip nations. The politicization of agriculture can only result in victimization and strive against one another instead of striving against hunger, poverty and joblessness that confront us as a people,” Mr Akoto averred.

He emphasized the need for the ozone layer to be protected.

“As a matter of urgency, every activity that we do, whether agriculturally or whatever, must safeguard mother earth and ensure that we do not deplete the ozone layer that protects the only planet that we have at the moment,” he stated.

Mr Atta Akoto further touched on SYDA’s Integrated Sewing Project with about 40 trainees.

In their quest to reduce the unemployment rate in the country, he called on benevolent individuals and corporate bodies to come to their aid.

To meet goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the SYDA President stressed that they will need help in getting a decent toilet facility and a mechanized borehole.
