Two Ghanaian Policewomen In Trouble After Taking Bribe From A Driver

Two Ghanaian policewomen are in trouble after they took a bribe from a driver.

The policewomen from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Kumasi were captured taking money from a truck driver in a viral video.

They seemingly took the money after the driver was caught in a traffic offence.

In the video, one of the policewomen argued with the driver the GHS 5 he offered to them was not enough. She further threatened to take him to the Asokwa Police Station if he refuses to top up.

The driver obliged and they left the scene after taking the money, claiming that they have considered him.

These policewomen were named PW/Inspr Martha Ackah and No.6233 PW/Sergeant Felicia Ocran of the Asokwa Divisional MTTD in Kumasi in a statement.

Their conduct was described as “unprofessional” in a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo.

They have also been interdicted as investigations are being conducted.

“If found guilty, they would be made to face the full rigours of the law aside the internal disciplinary actions.

“We would like to urge the affected victims to come forward and support Police investigation to enable us take the Officers through the due process of the law as we seek to ensure that our officers uphold the highest form of professional standards,” the police stated.
