Today marks the second day of the planned demonstration dubbed #OccupyJulorbiHouse spearheaded by the group known as Democracy Hub whose primary goal was to call out the government on the state of the economy and persisting corruption among government officials.

The protest which began yesterday has led to a series of events including multiple civilian arrests by the Ghana Police Service, an alleged arrest of a BBC journalist and assault on some individuals, and police denial of any brutality from their officers.

Today, the protesters resolved to continue what was started yesterday with the aim of taking the march to the seat of government, the Jubilee House.

Even though Accra was experiencing torrential rain, the protesters remain resolute and plan on staying put.

The #OccupyJulorBiHouse protest has so far gained widespread attention with over 600,000 posts on X alone, and continues to trend on all social media, with many calling on the international community to turn to what is happening in the country.

Meanwhile, several local celebrities and football stars have faced a myriad of criticisms for their apparent silence on the matter and their absence on the ground to support the cause.

Efia Odo, Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Manifest, and the like have since yesterday added their voices to the chants of the youth protesting against the government.

However, many believe this is not enough as several celebrities whom many expected to have gotten involved are virtually missing on the ground while others are being criticized for their social media posts about the protest which are deemed dispassionate.
