Valencia extended the lead to two goals after 31 minutes of play.

With this disappointing result, Qatar becomes the first host nation to lose an opening match in the history of the World Cup.

They will lock horns with African side, Senegal in their next group match on Friday, November 25, 2022.

The Qataris will face the Netherlands on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, for their last match in Group A of the World Cup 2022.

Before that, the next Group A match will be between Senegal and and Netherlands on Monday, November 21, 2022.
