They got their second goal in the 61st minute after Tokinantenaina Olivier Randriatsiferana seized an opportunity to score.
The Black Galaxies of Ghana pulled one back through a thunderous strike by Augustine Agyapong in the 67th minute.
It was heartbreaking for the Ghanaian side, tipped as part of the tournament’s favourites to lose 1-2 to their counterparts.
Ghana will play their next match against Sudan on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 7:00 PM.
