Morocco has been crowned champions of the U-23 African Cup of Nations 2023.
They beat Egypt in the final of the U-23 AFCON 2023 by 2 goals to 1.
Egypt took the lead through Mahmoud Saber within 10 minutes of play.
Unfortunately for the Egyptians, Mahmoud Saber was given a red card in the 18th minute after he dangerously attacked Morocco’s Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.
Morocco, the host nation, got an equalizer in the 37th minute when Yanis Begraoui found the net.
It ended 1-1 in the first half.
The match was extended to extra time after both teams could not score again after 90 plus additional minutes.
Oussama Targhalline got the winning goal for the Moroccans in the extra time from a free kick pass to him.
Both Morocco and Egypt have qualified for the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
