Morocco and Egypt have reached the final of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations 2023.
The host nation defeated Mali 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes and extra time.
Morocco got their first goal through Zakaria El Quahdi in the 13th minute.
Mali’s Mamady Diambou cancelled Morocco’s lead after 66 minutes of play.
The match went into extra time, and the Moroccans got a second goal from Amine El Quazzani.
Mali fought back when Issoufi Maiga scored to make it 2-2.
Unfortunately for the Malian side, they hit the crossbar twice during the penalty shootouts while their opponent successfully did the needful.
Earlier, Egypt won 1-0 against Guinea in the other semi-final match of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations 2023.
Morocco and Egypt will lock horns in the final of the U-23 AFCON 2023 on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
Before the final, Mali and Guinea will battle for third place on Friday, July 7, 2023.
After reaching the final, both Morocco and Egypt have booked tickets for the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
