Under its community empowerment initiative labelled 'Bring a Cheer to

your Community', Vodafone Ghana Foundation has funded seven Ghanaian

organizations and individuals engaged in projects with a focus on

health, education, technology, children and entrepreneurial

development nationwide.

The initiative, which was unveiled last year, seeks to empower

individuals and institutions to execute sustainable projects that

address pertinent issues in their respective communities.

The ultimate benefit is to create a society that is healthy and

committed to contributing to the overall economic growth of the

country.

The seven projects, selected out of over 40 entries, were given up to

GH¢50,000 to undertake several activities, bringing the total support

to GH¢350,000

Commenting on the support, Nana Yaa Afriyie Ofori-Koree, Head of

Vodafone Ghana Foundation and Sustainability said: "We are proud to

support Ghanaians who are passionate about solving challenges they

have identified in their respective communities. As a Foundation with

a mandate to ensure a society with improved lives, we will continue to

fashion out ways we can continue to deliver this throughout the

country."

The seven recipients of the support include STEMbees Organisation, an

entity with a focus on getting teenage girls interested in computer

programming; Divine Mother and Child Foundation, which will be seeking

to improve maternal and child health through community outreach

programmes with the use of mobile ultrasound scan; Paul

Anomah-Kordieh, a visually-impaired Broadcast Journalist with ETV in

Ghana, who will use the support to provide learning materials and

medical screening for deaf and dumb students in the Eastern Region;

and The Sugar Project, championed by Kojo Yankson, a radio presenter

at Joy FM.

His project focuses on giving easy access to efficient and reliable

diabetes testing and education centres to all the regions in the

country.
