Sunyani-based businesswoman, Hot and Cold, known in private life as Akua Acheampomaa Nkrumah, has put smiles on the faces of expectant and new mothers at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital.
Madam Akua Acheampomaa, who was celebrating her 50th birthday made a donation to these women on Friday, March 8, 2024.
She donated drinks, pampers, soap, toiletries and other items.
Hot and Cold told Newshuntermag.com in an interview that she took this decision after she was admitted to the hospital when she was pregnant some time ago.
According to her, she felt the plight of some of the women who were in need of basic necessities at the hospital.
Following this, she thought it wise to go to their aid.
The revered businesswoman indicated that the items donated are worth about GHS 15,000.
Hot and Cold, the key distributor of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, water, toiletries and other local and foreign-made products in the Bono and Ahafo Regions, urged others to emulate her steps and help the needy.
She recalled donating to some orphanages in Sunyani and inmates at the Sunyani Central Prisons in previous years.
Speaking to the News Hunter Magazine, the Paediatrician at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital, Dr Bright Asiamah, expressed his gratitude to Hot and Cold, emphasising how the donated items would help the women.
He further opened up about some of the challenges they are facing at the hospital.
Dr Asiamah also pleaded with benevolent individuals and corporate entities to come to their aid by donating equipment like incubators, a CPAP machine and a radiant warmer.
“We have some of this equipment, but having them in abundance will go a long way to help us,” he explained.
