SUNYANI MAGAZINE IN DIRE NEED OF WASTE CONTAINERS
The Sunyani Magazine; an area in the Sunyani Municipality is in dire
need of waste containers as people in the area find it difficult to
dump refuse when the only one serving the area becomes full.
This was revealed when J-life news team was alerted over sanitation
problems embattling the area.
Speaking to the news team, a source who requested to stay anonymous
disclosed that there is only one refuse container serving the whole
area departmentalized into 10 zones. He said he was in zone six and
the container is situated in zone eight making it difficult for people
in zone six to dump refuse, hence, resorting to creating their own
incinerators which also posses threat to life.
Following the agitation, and in an exclusive interview with the
chairman of the Ghana National Association of Garages,Mr. Augustine Osei Tutu to find out if
his outfit has received such complaints and his stake on the matter,
he revealed that, the entrenched sanitation problem of the area is a
course of worry to all.
"We have received complains", he admitted, saying vehemently that his
outfit has acted promptly, nevertheless , alleged that he has sent
request to the municipal assembly for waste containers but has
received no response.
He furthered that all attempts to get the assembly to provide them
waste containers proved futile and asked that the media should
intervene and use the medium as the voice of the voiceless to help
his call on the assembly.
"I will appreciate if you people can help me get their attention" he requested.
