Ahafo And Bono Regions Have Only 6 Public Libraries – Research Report

A research study conducted by Anane Institute has revealed that the Ahafo, Bono East and Bono regions have only 6
public libraries serving a population of 2.5 million people.

released to the Citizen Times, shows that the public libraries are found in
Sunyani, Techiman, Kintampo, Duayaw Nkwanta, Goaso and Dormaa.

In an interview with the Citizen

According to him, the only way we
can inculcate the habit of reading into pupils and students is to furnish them
with well-equipped and advanced libraries.

“For all these regions to have just
six (6) public libraries is woefully inadequate,” he bemoaned.

one of the foundations we cannot look down if we want to build a better
educational system.

“If we want to build a strong educational
system in this country, then we have to invest in building more libraries.
Reading is very important and it shouldn’t be underestimated. I appeal to
authorities to factor this in our budgets as a matter of urgency,” he pleaded.
