The Parliamentary Candidate for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in the Sunyani East constituency, Francis Kwabena Kusi has questioned the legacy that the incumbent will leave behind.

In a long Facebook post sighted by Newshuntermag.com, the PPP Parliamentary hopeful stated that he is yet to see any legacy that Hon Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh will leave behind.

He argued that the NPP MP has not done much for his constituency, so the electorates should change their voting patterns in the forthcoming elections.

Francis Kusi stressed that the constituents have been taking for granted because leaders of the party think they will always have their votes even if they fail to develop the area.

He made this assertion after he witnessed a local football competition organized by some young men in the Sunyani Zongo.

Sadly, the Sunyani East PPP Parliamentary candidate said the football games were played on a raw ground with now grass.

After he researched on the cost of an AstroTurf, Francis Kusi stated that the amount GHS 1,000,000 should not be something that the incumbent MP cannot raise.

My passion to see every facet of our constituency progress burns every day. I always resist the temptation of getting frustrated or despaired.

The challenges that confronts our people are many and points to a very bleak future.

A nurtured talent is like a gold mine. It requires little investment but greater discipline. This idea became very glaring to me when I honoured an invitation to a community soccer tournament (peace gala) organised by young men of Sunyani Zongo at the Boahen Korkor Presby School. As a football person myself, I saw pure talent, great footballers who demonstrated dexterity and skill at the game. As I sat through the games and observed, I stack reality of dejection of these talents was so tangible. In 21st century, we couldn’t afford a decent and safe pitch for our boys to play on. They played on a raw ground without grass at the peril of their own lifes.

I do not blame them. The irony of the issue was that at this same event, the incumbent member of Parliament for the Sunyani East constituency was present. He left after some few minutes to attend to what he referred to as “important assignment”.

We are all aware that some constituencies in Ghana, have benefitted from these new AstroTurf picthes. I asked myself, what at all has sunyani East done to deserve such marginalisation??

Not even a single one!!!!!

My checks indicate that, an average cost of one AstroTurf currently by Wembley Sports Construction Company Ltd. costs little over 1,000,000.00ghc with flood lights, spectator stands, washrooms and fencing.

I dare say, 1,000,000.00ghc should not be an amount too difficult for Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh to raise. In his recent backlash at the Bono Regional Minister on Nimde3 fm(a station he owns) 3rd October 2020, he claimed he dolled out 80,000.00 to the Minister to support her confirmation when she was nominated. Flowing from this assertion, if not for pure dereliction of duty as an MP or sheer cruelty, Sunyani-East should also have at least one AstroTurf by now.

Sunyani-East deserve better. We have voted Hon. Ameyaw Cheremeh for over a decade (Almost 12 YEARS, Three consecutive terms). Sunyani East has lost its old glory. Filth has engulfed our city and traffic is gradually becoming a problem.

I urge you to wake and do something different this time, let’s change our voting pattern (my humble request). Lets change the path and chart a new direction. I’m the best alternative in this years parliamentary election and willing to transform our noble constituency in focus.

In politics, when we mention some names we only think about the legacy that was left behind by their actions. I may be wrong, but I am yet to see a legacy that He’s leaving behind. You can be acquiring some properties (I don’t have any problem with that if its through legal means and not corrupt practices) but the societal benefit of your tenure is what is paramount. You may have the nomination of your party after allegedly “buying votes” through delegates knowing your constituency being what it is (the world bank of the NPP), I know that whoever stands on the ticket of the NPP in this constituency is likely to win and that doesn’t mean that we should take the good people of Sunyani East for granted.

Sunyani East will rise again. It will definitely rise again and God willing, December 7th will be the decision day and a starting point of transforming our constituency. Let’s change the current insensitive Member of Parliament who’s sleeping on his job. Thanks to the Youth of Sunyani for their hearty, hospitable reception, I appreciate.
