Ghana’s music industry has once again secured a strong presence at the AFRIMMA Music Festival 2026, with a diverse group of artistes, producers, DJs, dancers and creatives receiving nominations across several categories.
Leading the country’s charge is Black Sherif, who earned nominations for Best Male West Africa, Best Male Rap Act and AFRIMMA Album of the Year for IRONBOY. His hit song So It Goes is also in contention for Song of the Year, marking another major achievement in what continues to be a standout run for one of Africa’s most influential music stars.
Joining him is Moliy, whose growing international profile has earned her nominations in Best Female West Africa and Best Female Reggae/Dancehall, while her global hit Shake It to the Max has also secured a place among this year’s Song of the Year contenders. Enam receives recognition in Best Female West Africa, with Eno Barony and Freda Rhymz representing Ghana in Best Female Rap Act.
Ghana’s influence extends beyond recording artists. Producer MOG Beatz has been nominated for Music Producer of the Year, while Babs Direction is recognised in Best Video Director. DJ Sly King and DJ Akua receive nominations in Best DJ Africa and Best African DJ USA, respectively, underscoring Ghana’s growing footprint in the global DJ community.
The country’s creative depth is further reflected in nominations for dancers Dancegod Lloyd and Incredible Zigi in Best African Dancer, while DopeNation is nominated for Best African Group and Song of the Year with Kakalika. Ghanaian-American artist Moses Sumney is nominated for Best African USA-Based Artiste, and Ogee The MC is recognised in Best Hypeman/MC.
Adding to Ghana’s showing, Sarkodie has been nominated for the AFRIMMA Timeless Impact Award, honouring artists whose contributions have left a lasting mark on African music and culture. Shatta Wale also earns recognition in Best Male Reggae/Dancehall.
AFRIMMA Music Festival 2026 returns this year after a brief hiatus, bringing together artists, fans, media and industry stakeholders from across Africa and the diaspora for live performances, cultural showcases and industry engagement. This year’s nominations reflect the depth of Ghana’s creative ecosystem, from chart-topping musicians and pioneering producers to dancers, directors, DJs and cultural innovators reinforcing the country’s place as one of the continent’s foremost creative powerhouses.
