Ghanaian Songstress, Efya Outlines Her Plans To Break The Longest Song In The World Record

Ghanaian songstress, Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, well-known as Efya, has outlined her plans to break the longest song in the world record.

She opened up on her intentions to achieve this feat during an interview with Abeiku Santana that Newshuntermag.com has seen.

The ‘Forgetting Me’ singer believes she can surpass the record.

“I think I can sing for a couple of hours,” she said.

Efya revealed she may sit down and record the song for hours instead of standing.

She further called on other Ghanaian artistes to join her for this record to be made.

“We could make it amusing by saying that Ghanaian musicians came together to shatter a record. Every artist is welcome to participate, regardless of location, by singing a 10-minute song that will be broadcast live on television,” the 36-year-old singer and songwriter posited.

Her statement comes after Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, broke the “longest cooking marathon” record.

According to the Guinness World Records, the longest officially released song is 138 hr 41 min 20 sec, and was achieved by Dr. Jagadeesh Pillai (India) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, on 12th April 2023.

Dr. Pillai composed and recorded a single track based on the entire book of the poetic work “Shri Ram Charit Manas,” which consists of more than 15,000 verses. The epic poem is in the Awadhi language (a folk form of Hindi), and composed by the 16th-century Indian bhakti poet Goswami Tulsidas.
