Social media users have dug out an old tweet by dancehall artist Shatta Wale in which he claimed to have been contacted by BET.

This follows Black Sherif’s recent win in the Best International Flow category at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards. He beat tough competitors from around the world including Central Cee and J Hus from the UK, K.O and AKA from South Africa, Gazo and Ninho from France, Tasha & Tracie and Major RD from Brazil, and Sampa The Great from Zambia.

Black Sherif is the second Ghanaian to win in the category, with Sarkodie clinching it first clinched in 2019.

In celebrating Blacko’s new achievement, many of his fans also took to trolling Shatta Wale whose tweet in 2018 suggested that he was up for a nomination and a possible win at the awards.

Shatta Wale had tweeted, “Eiiii B.E.T. just sent me mail ooooo”, however, nothing more was heard about it.

Five years later, the post has come back to haunt him, with many social media users claiming the self-proclaimed dancehall king has failed where Black Sherif who is relatively new to the music scene has succeeded.
