Artisans in the Brong Ahafo Region have made a passionate appeal
to the Town and Country Planning Departments in the various assemblies to find
a permanent place of settlement for artisans in the region.

CEO of New Start For Artisans and Technicians Movement, Mr.
Boahen Kofi Philip speaking in an interview with the News Hunter Magazine
bemoaned that it has been a challenge for artisans in the region to find a
permanent place to start their business after they complete the learning
process.

He disclosed that even those who are already settled later
got problems with land owners and the assembly for settling on unapproved
locations.
“Getting permanent grounds for our workplace has been a
major challenge which collapses our business. Sometimes one may be evacuated
when he/she is well noticed and businesses are going on well.  There should be a law which protects Ghanaian
artisans. The current system is not favoring us,” he lamented.
 Mr. Boahen charged
the Town and Country Department to help manage and promote harmonious,
sustainable and cost effective development regarding to their settlement.
He added that funding or startup capital is also one of the
challenges that artisans in the country face—and therefore called on the
government to establish artisans fund to help these groups who are mainly in
their youthful age.
According to him, the sector will help reduce the
unemployment rate of the country should government invest into that area.
