The acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons has revealed the effect that COVID-19 had on the activities of the union.

During an interview with News Hunter Magazine’s Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku on Unlimited Chat With K.O.K, Mr Simons revealed the outbreak of COVID-19 stalled the activities of MUSIGA.

He said a lot of programs were rolled out, but the pandemic which led to a partial lockdown and other restrictions in Ghana did not allow them to carry out such activities.

The acting MUSIGA President made this disclosure when he was asked about what the union is doing to strengthen the regional offices to attract new and young musicians.

Bessa Simons tasked executives of these regional offices to do their best to build the capacity.

He was hopeful activities of the union will be fully rolled out in next year—where these regional offices will get their capacity.

Currently, MUSIGA has about ten (10) regional offices—which they are looking forward to expand in the future.

Mr Simons also talked about the benefits one would have if he/she joins the Musicians Union of Ghana.
