It is a ‘cocoa season’ for some Ghanaian celebrities who are endorsing their favorite political parties in the forth coming general elections. It is clear that Majid Michel will not join his colleagues in this manner.

The 30-year-old actor has schooled who a true leader is.

According to him, true leaders think about the well being of others and not their personal gains.

“True Leaders are more concerned about discovering a purpose to improve the life of humanity, that’s more important than their personal ambition, so they sacrifice themselves to accomplish something for the greater good. We find that rarely these days. Most people we call Leaders are simply professional manipulators, and they are actually more concerned about their own promotion than promoting the people. A leader is born when a human discovers something more important than their personal ambition. Leadership is not something you pursue. it’s something you discover. Leadership has nothing to do with you. it has everything to do with the people. Winning an election does not mean u are a Leader. it means you are a politician. if you are ordained as a pastor does not mean you can lead a church. LEADERSHiP is not a right. it’s a privilege. And it’s a privilege given to you by the followers. And if the followers don’t know how to identify with good and effective Leaders, then we will continue to have mediocrity in Leadership. #LEADERSHiP @enginuzun,” he wrote.

Michel entered professional acting by auditioning for a modelling agency; a neighbour had introduced him to that agency. He was invited to join the modeling agency, Super Model Agency, on the behest of his next-door neighbour. He starred in the television series Things We Do for Love, acquiring his nickname “Shaker” on the set. His role on Things We Do for Love was to be played by a Lebanese boy, and Michel attributes being given the role due to his Lebanese heritage.

Things We Do For Love became a success and propelled him into the mainstream. On the strength of his performance in the series, he was cast in his first movie, Divine Love, as the male lead, alongside Jackie Aygemang as the female lead, with Van Vicker in a supporting role. All three used their roles in the movie to debut their movie careers. Divine Love was a huge success, turning Majid Michel, Jackie Agyemang and Van Vicker into household names across Ghana.

In 2008 Michel starred as the lead role in the film Agony of the Christ, which received seven nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009.

He received nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. He eventually won the award in 2012 after three previous consecutive nominations.
