Ghana in World Cup Draw Pot 2, could face Brazil or Spain in group stage

FIFA has announced that Ghana will be in Pot 2 for Friday's 2014 World

Cup draw to be held in Brazil.

The Black Stars were initially tipped to be in Pot 3 together with

the other African teams and Chile and Ecuador from South America but

FIFA revealed the pot allocation at a press conference in Bahia on

Tuesday before the main draw will be held later this week.

Ghana could potentially draw Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia or Argentina as

they are the four seeded South American teams in Pot 1 or Germany,

Spain, Belgium and Switzerland who are the top seeded European teams

in the pot. The teams in Pot 1 will be spread among the eight groups

in the opening round as the top seeds while one team from Pot 4 will

be drawn to Pot 2 in order to have 8 teams in all the pots for the

draw.

According to FIFA, there will not be more than two European teams in

any of the groups and South American teams will not face each other in

the group stages of the tournament.

Here are the pot allocations for Friday's World Cup draw in Brazil:

Pot 1: Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Spain, Germany, Belgium

and Switzerland.

Pot 2: Algeria, Cameroon, Chile, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Ghana and Nigeria.

Pot 3: Australia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Iran, Japan, Korea Republic,

Mexico, USA.

Pot 4: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Greece, Italy,

Netherlands, Portugal, Russia.
