When two good musicians come together to do a song, nothing is
expected but of course a good job. And it seems that was what
happened when Efya featured Bisa Kdei on her latest One Of Ur Own.
Although Efya had earlier announced on Twitter that her next release
would be a Kaywa produced song Gingam Too Much, the tide seemed to
have shifted in favour of this one with Bisa Kdei who won the 2014
Ghana Music Awards Songwriter of the Year award.
On One Of Your Own, the Afro Neo-Soul artiste sings her heart out on
how she would want to be treated. The love themed song hears Efya
expressing her emotions on how fair it would be if everyone treated
others the way they would love to be treated.
According to the multi award winner, "I had wanted to put Gingam Too
Much out next but after a discussion with my team, we decided the
piece with Bisa Kdei is a better choice to put out right now."
Efya was also recently nominated for an award in the 2014 African
Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) which will be taken place in Dallas,
Texas on July 26, 2014.
She is also slated to perform alongside Nicki Minaj on the Diamond
Fields stage at the Tribe One Music Festival at Cullinan, Tshane in
South Africa from September 26-28, 2014.
Born Jane Awindor, Efya shot to fame when she participated in the
maiden edition of the Stars of the Future talent show in 2006 where
she came third.
She has won the Best Female Vocal Performance category at the Ghana
Music Awards in five successions, beginning in 2011.
In 2013, Efya released This Is Not The Album (T.I.N.T), a digital
mixtape which was released during the period of 2011 and 2013.
Some of the songs on the mixtapes were Getaway and Best In Me.
Efya has won several awards including Musician of the Year at the City
People Entertainment Awards (2014) and Best Storyline Video of the
Year at the 4Syte TV Music Video Awards (2013).
