Former German-born Ghanaian international, Kevin-Prince Boateng has made a recent revelation about how he was forced to hide his love for Real Madrid and instead show allegiance to Barcelona when he joined the club.

The player, who is now retired, was loaned to Barcelona for the 2018/2019 season, leading to a tight spot, as he had previously declared his affection for Real Madrid.

On a recent episode of the “Vibe with FIVE” podcast, he spoke about the dilemma he faced, saying, “I support Hertha Berlin, where I was born. Sorry Blaugrana. Barcelona fans are going to hate me now but [I supported] Real Madrid,” He confessed.

“I couldn’t say that in the press conference. They told me, ‘Never say that, otherwise, you can’t play.’ Literally, I said, ‘What do you mean?’ And they said, ‘Nah, you can’t say.’ Because two years before, I had an interview when I played for Las Palmas, and they asked me, ‘Who is the best player in the world?’ And I said, ‘In this world, Ronaldo, in the galaxy, Messi.’ And they asked me my favorite club, and I said Real Madrid,” he added.

As a result of the instruction he had received, he resorted to living a lie, he said.

“The first question [when I joined Barcelona] was ‘What is your favorite club?’ I said Barcelona. ‘Who is the best player in the world?’ I said, Messi. This is one of the biggest lies because I usually say the truth, but this one, I had to lie because I wanted to put on the shirt for one time at Camp Nou,” he explained.

Apart from this unveiling, Kevin-Prince Boateng recently shared photos of himself undergoing a Christian baptism in Germany, after which he declared Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

The 36-year-old former Ghana midfielder announced his retirement from football earlier in August this year.
