Incomparable Ghanaian rapper and singer, Edem, has intimated his
desire to become a movie star.
The Ewe-Rap star revealed this in an exclusive interview with Starr
Entertainment.
Edem, who is set to launch his third album, Books and Rhymes on
Wednesday, November 12, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra, said he
tried becoming an actor before he made it big as a music star.
"It is something that I tried in the past, a lot of the production
houses took my down payment, and if you want to join these houses they
tell you to pay some fee before you join them; that was in the past
before I became a star."
Edem, now a household name, believes he currently reserves the right
to choose which movie production houses to work with.
Given the opportunity, the Koene hitmaker would choose a Shirley
Frimpong Manso movie to feature in or a Leila Djansi production over
any else in the country.
Edem told Starr Entertainment the two Ghanaian women embody excellence
in movie making.
"I'd like to star in a movie and I want it to be a Shirley or a Leila
Djansi movie. These two people are people who display a higher level
of artistry," he emphasised.
When asked about the kind of role he would like to play, he said
casually, "I want to be a bad guy… the bad guys get the girls."
Edem became one of the most successful artistes on the Ghanaian music
scene after the release of his debut single, Nyornuviade.
His growth over the years has been impressively consistent.
The rapper/singer has promised to give his fans more of the "good
stuff" on his yet-to-be-launched 'Books and Rhymes' album which has 25
"sick tracks" as he puts it.
On the album are some of his very successful singles Koene,, Best
Rapper which features Black Prophet, The One featuring Sway, Only In
Ghana, and his favourite Zero to Hero.
He also features some of the continent's best artistes, Samini, Ice
Prince, M.I, Cssper, Nyovest, Sway and Black Prophet.
