After over a month of waiting, the world has finally been let in on the name of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s second baby who was born on August 1.
The baby’s name has been revealed by the couple as ‘Riot Rose Mayers’, according to his birth certificate.
Robyn Rihanna Fenty and Rakim Athelaston Mayers, who in pop culture go by Rihanna and A$AP Rocky seem to have started a tradition of alliteration with the letter “R” in the family. Their first son, born last year in May is named RZA Mayers.
Rihanna in the most unexpected turn of events announced her second pregnancy when she performed at the Super Bowl halftime show back in February this year. This came as a shock to fans, many of whom did not expect another baby soon after RZA’s birth less than a year before.
Naturally, several of her fans had keenly been keeping track of the “Diamond” and “Work” singer’s journey to bringing to the world the new billionaire celebrity baby.
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky had a few months ago released a song with the title, “Riot”, and whether the song inspired the baby’s name or vice versa remains uncertain.
Following the name announcement, the couple’s massive fan base has taken to various social media in reaction to the news.
“They had 9 months to come up with a better name”, one user wrote on Twitter (X).
“‘Riot’. I would love to hear her pronounce the name”, another wrote.
“Sounds like they’re raising a future rockstar with that name”, one person also said.
There continue to be speculations as to the exact pronunciation of the name. Others have also resorted to making memes and jokes out of it.
