A 28-year-old teacher of a private Junior High School (JHS) at Night

Market in Ashaiman has has been arrested by the Tema Regional Domestic

Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) for allegedly sodomising

and defiling some students of the school.

The teacher, John Quarhsie, popularly known as Sir John, is a resident

of New-Town, an Ashaiman suburb.

Reports said he used a computer game to entice the 14-year-old boy to

visit him regularly after school and sodomised him.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the authorities managed to convince the

complainant, who is the father of the boy, to withdraw the case of

sodomy because he is a relative of a certain sergeant at the Tema

Regional Police Command.

However, the complainant in the defilement case refused to withdraw

the case and expressed his intention to make the teacher face the full

rigors of the law for allegedly defiling his 13-year-old girl.

Source close to DOVVSU told DAILY GUIDE that the suspect asked the

victim to always visit him on Saturdays after extra classes to fetch

water and do other household chores for him.

According to reports, the victim on numerous occasions declined to

have sexual intercourse with the teacher at his house.

On October 25, 2014, the victim and her male friend visited the

teacher at home after school.

The teacher engaged the male with a computer game while the victim

cleaned bowls in the kitchen.

The teacher allegedly carried a student mattress to the kitchen,

forced the victim onto it and had sexual intercourse with her.

He used a tissue to wipe the vagina of the victim and his manhood and

warned her not to disclose the incident to anyone after the act.

On November 15, 2014, the victim told some of her friends about the

conduct of the teacher and they moved to the office of the

proprietress to inform her about the incident.

The proprietress immediately reported the matter to the police and the

suspect was subsequently arrested.

He reportedly gave contradictory statements to the police during interrogation.
