Metro Mass board dissolved

The board of Directors of the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT) has
been dissolved.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani mentioned that
the Managing Director of MMT, Noble John Appiah and his Deputy, John
Awuku Dzuazah have also been asked to step aside.
This is to allow investigation to commence into the operations of the company
The President, John Mahama has since directed Brigadier General I. B.
Quartey (rtd) to take over the management of the company pending
conclusion of the investigation.
This comes on the back of an indefinite strikewhich was embarked on by
the workers of the company on Monday followed by a demonstration in
Accrademanding the dismissal of the Board chair, Osabarima Ansah
Sasraku III and Deputy Managing Director, John Awuku Dzuazah.
They accused them of being responsible for the disappearance of 12
buses belonging to the company.
Passengers nationwide were left strandedas a result of the strike but
the MMT workers however called off the strike after the intervention
of the Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor.
They however indicated that they will petition the President to
intervene in the matter to save the company from a possible collapse.
