According to her, the campaign is part of the many pledges she made after winning the prestigious crown.
The 29-year- old pharmacist born to a Ghanaian mother and a Nigerian father told host of Adom FM’s mid morning show, Work and Happiness, Ohema Woyeje the campaign will begin with a Diabetes Workshop at Ahwerase near Aburi in the Eastern region on 22nd January, 2015.
Miss Tokunboh explained that she decided to embark on this particular campaign because her grandfather died of diabetes and that she believed educating people will help others in the fight.
“I chose diabetes because whenever I recall the anxiety my grandfather who passed on went through as a diabetic patient – it was so pathetic – so I will encourage all Ghanaians to be bold to seek for advice on diabetes,” she added.
Akua Tokunboh called on all Ghanaians to join in the worthy cause to save lives.
“I’m looking forward to educate the public immensely to understand what diabetes is all about, the choice of food and to test for their diabetes status and know how to control it,” she stated.
