Chelsea are reportedly ready to try and sign Atletico Madrid
midfielder Koke this summer – and could use Filipe Luis as bait in any
prospective deal.
The Evening Standard have claimed
that Jose Mourinho remains an admirer of Koke – who only signed a new
long-term deal with Los Rojiblancos last June – ever since Chelsea
enquired about the 23-year-old last year.
Despite the Spain international having a whopping £48million release
clause in his contract at the Vicente Calderon, the publication believes
the Blues will use their close relationship with Atletico – and the La
Liga outfit’s desire to bring back Luis – to negotiate a deal for Koke.
However, Chelsea will have to compete with the likes of Barcelona and
Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United for the
player, with all of the mentioned clubs having previously been
interested in signing Koke.
