That brownish water in the bottle is not some maize-based concoction. And no, it is not beverage. It is alcohol gleefully being consumed on the day when Jesus’ resurrection was celebrated – Easter Monday. At the Kokrobite beach in Accra, Easter Monday was a spectacle of too much freedom for too many children and teenagers. And for myjoyonline.com photojournalist David Andoh, it was a shocking sight of children drinking alcohol with careless abandon. For Joy FM, Easter Monday was a moment of deep reflection when we visited teenagers at the Senior Correctional Center in Accra, to see delinquent juveniles sentenced to reform and correction. All because parents were less responsible and more care-free in training the wards in the difficult business of moral programming that will fit them for the future. Government cannot train the products of pleasurable sexual satisfaction better than parents. Ghana is in danger when another generation is preparing to take over starting with alcohol abuse so early a stage.
