Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly called DKB, says
he will soon lead a demonstration by celebrities against the power
crisis in the country.
According to the comedian, who made the revelation during an interview
on Rhythmz A-Z on Joy FM with Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye Saturday, the
demonstration is for the celebrities to register their displeasure
about the power crisis.
Ghanaians are currently enduring power rationing, popularly called
'Dumsor', due to shortfalls in power generation.
Several celebrities, including Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, Lydia Forson,
Wanlov the Kubolor, and Chris Attoh, have called on Government to
find an urgent solution to the problem.
DKB said the demonstration, which is currently in the planning stage,
will create more awareness about the #dumsormuststop campaign
currently being championed by some celebrities on social media.
"It's all for the good of every Ghana. We are not saying we want to
fight his excellency, we all love his excellency but when the thing no
nice, fire for come inside," he said in pidgin.
The comedian noted that the power challenges affect the livelihoods of
showbiz personalities and their work just like other Ghanaians.
"What I hope to achieve is for the government to know that there is
another department of society that is hard hit by this crisis because
the whole time it has always been a political affair," DKB explained.
