Theodosia Okoh: State burial to see off Ghana’s illustrious daughter today

A state burial would be held today to bid farewell to the designer of
Ghana's national flag Theodosia Okoh at the forecourt of the State
House in Accra.
She will later be laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery. The state funeral
– expected to start at 9am – will be attended by government officials,
members of the diplomatic corps, the clergy, members of parliament and
high-ranking politicians, all of whom will be expected to deliver
tributes to one of Ghana's illustrious women.
Hundreds of Ghanaians especially those in the sports fraternity are
expected to pay their last respect to the late stateswoman who died on
April 19, 2015 at the age of 92.
Stanley Okoh, one of the sons of the late stateswoman, said a
thanksgiving service will be held atthe Ridge Church on Sunday May 31,
after which the family will gather at her residence for the final
funeral rites.
Madam Okoh is also celebrated forher immense contribution to the
development of sports in the country.
Mrs Okoh was a national hockey star and the first and only female
chair of the Ghana Hockey Association.
Until her death, she was a patron of the Sports Writers Association of
Ghana (SWAG).
Mrs Okoh was survived by three children: Kwasi Okoh, Stanley Kwame
Okoh and Theodosia Amma Jones-Quartey.
