This guy is prolific in the Akan language and very authoritative. He is the anchor of “ISSUES” a Socio-Political Show air on ARK FM in Ghana, Amansan FM in UK and other affiliates in and outside the continent and above all very humorous on air. He calls himself Nana Kwame Adjei-Bohyen and in all sincerity, he is incontrovertibly one of the finest Twi news casters and presenters on the airwaves in Ghana.
He is an amusing presenter Ghana has known in recent years. Nana Kwame Adjei, studied Akan language in school but says that has no bearing with his proficiency in the language. “I see it as my mother tongue and the vocabulary flows on my lips as soon as I sit behind the microphone”, he said in an interview with myarkfmonline.com in Sunyani. “I sometimes find it very difficult to understand some of the words I use on air when I sit down to reflect over them after listening to myself on tape but surprisingly, upon consultations, I get to realize that those fit perfectly”.
Undoubtedly, he has been able to use his frolics, comedy and his flowery Akan language to pull many listeners to ARK FM, ever since he joined the station from Nkosuo Radio in Kumasi. He has been instrumental in making ISSUES on ARK FM one of the most listened to in and outside the country and the entire coverage area. But some people object vehemently to his usage of proverbs in news items, playing with words on air and thinks he embellishes news items a lot when presenting them.
Responding to that, Nana Kwame Adjei said he appreciates criticisms very much, since it helps to straighten up peoples’ lives. “I am happy listeners have been pointing out my mistakes to me and I appreciate that so much”. He claims he was inspired by Kwame Adinkrah style of radio presentation which attracted him to enter the radio business. “I felt there was something missing in peoples’ social lives and felt the urge to be on air to help them fill that vacuum”.
He entered into the radio industry in the year 2005 at Mighty FM at Asante Mampong as an attachment student, where he worked in the newsroom. He worked for 6 months and moved to Nkosou radio in Kumasi, where he worked for about a year and half and moved to Shaft fm in Obuasi.
He return to Nkosou radio in Kumasi again to help in the newsroom and also teach in the Training school for Broadcast Journalism and later moved on to ARK FM in October 2007. He spent his entire childhood days in the Ashanti Region and the Western Region. His ambition is to seek peace for all humanity. He thinks Broadcast Journalism is the most courageous and humble thing to do in life. He is a Christian whose favorite book is the Bible.
He is also interested in Researching, Watching Movies and listening to Highlife, Hip life and Gospel tunes. Nana Kwame Adjei Bohyen favorite Football team is the Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Aduana FC and Manchester United. Kwame over the years have improved in his carrier and thus won the admiration of many in and outside the country.
Nana Kwame Adjei Bohyen feels many private radio station owners especially in Ghana have not been doing much for their workers.
