A lecturer at Catholic University of Ghana-Fiapre, Mr. Edward Twum Anane has commended the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for adding the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts,Mrs. Catherine Afeku to his Cabinet.
Mr. Anane enunciated that Mrs. Catherine Afeku’s inclusion in the cabinet will help in the development of the creative arts industry.
Mr. Anane’s comment comes after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo submitted to Parliament a list of 19 Ministers who will make up his Cabinet on Tuesday.
According to him, the 1992 Constitution mandates the President to select some Ministers to form the Cabinet which will assist him in the determination of general policy of the Government.
“There shall be a cabinet which shall consist of the President, the Vice President and not less than ten and not more than nineteen Ministers of State,” reads Article 76 (1) of the 1992 Constitution.
The Lecturer indicated that the Tourism, Arts and Culture sector, if well taken care, will help reduce the high youth unemployment in the country.
Mr. Anane also called on the Minister to resource the regional Centers for National Culture in the country.
The Catholic University lecturer, who is also a researcher in creativity and innovation management, expressed worry about the delay in the completion of the Brong Ahafo Theatre Building at Sunyani.
“The construction of Brong Ahafo Regional Theater Building has stalled for many decades and this is seriously retarding the development of performing arts in the region”
“I appeal to the Ministers to release funds for the completion of the project.”
