I have written some articles which talks about the Entertainment Industry in Brong Ahafo but it blows my mind if we have such an industry in the Region.
The entertainment industry can be used to describe the mass media companies that manufacture or distribute mass media entertainment, of which radio falls in the category…as for radio we have plenty in the region but that will be a different topic for discussion on another day.
In most cases, we can say the Entertainment Industry includes the field of theatre, film, fine art, dance, opera, music, literally publishing, television and radio…as I mentioned earlier. How many of these do we exhibit in the region? Even the little ones that we do, how well is it packaged?
Industries attract investors so if they are not coming in, then, we cannot boast of an industry.
Let us not forget that the sector is also known as show business or show biz. If you are doing creative works or services…and you do not sell or make a profit, do not tell me that you are in an industry.
An industry which event organizers sometimes struggle to organize a successful event, An industry which up and coming artists are rarely billed to perform at events, and those who may get such an opportunity do not get a penny for their services cannot be classified as an industry.
We have renowned filmmakers in the region, but ask yourself how many talents they have groomed. Their production houses are even situated outside the region. If we are to use the ‘Bono Language’ to shoot movies, how well will it be patronized by the people?
The Center For National Culture (CNC) should not be a playing grounds for lizards, let us do something with it.
We have a long way to go, but it is never too late; let us play our cards very well.
