The dream to progress
to the next stage in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup was quashed after the Black
Starlets of Ghana lost to Mali by 2 goals to 1.

However, Captain of
the Ghanaian side, Eric Eyiah believes all hope is not lost.
The young chap told
Asempa Sports in an interview that the team will come back strong.
“We did our best, we tried as much as we could to win against
Mali but we were defeated, such is football, one day you are up and the next
you are down.
“It hurts because we wanted to fight until the end of the
tournament and even do more to surpass what our seniors did but unfortunately
it didn’t happen for us. We were hoping to make history, but it did not happen.”
Eyiah added: “We appreciate all the support and love we got, God
knows best, I believe we will go back home regroup and come back stronger.”
Goals from Hadji Drame and Djemoussa Traore sent the Malian team
to the semi-finals stage of the competition.

Ghana’s consolidation goal was scored by Kudus Mohammed via a
spot a kick in the game which took place on Saturday in India.
