The Sunyani Municipal Commander of the Motor Traffic and
Transport Department (MTTD), Superintendent Stella Sedame, has advised pedestrians
to obey traffic regulations as the Christmas festivities approaches.

Speaking in an interview with Nana KAS on Suncity FM 97.1
Morning Drive in Sunyani, Superintendent Stella Sedame said achieving an
incident free Christmas without any road accidents is a collateral responsibility.
 “People should be
careful when using the road. Car is a machine and anything can happen so you need
not to fight space with Drivers. The breaks of a vehicle can fail at any point
in time…so everybody should be alert. You can run for your life if you are
alert. The possibility of dying after you have been hit by a car is great so
people should be careful,” she said.
According to her, faded road signs and markings still remain
a challenge in the municipality.
She also advised drivers not to violate traffic laws.
“Rest if you are tired. Drivers should insist of dropping
passengers at the bus stops and not anywhere of the road. It is very bad to see
some of them parking at pedestrian cross ways. Many people do not know the use of
the pedestrian cross way…and because many drivers did no go to the driving
school, they are making the job difficult,” the Sunyani Municipal Commander
stated.
Superintendent Stella Sedame added that it is wrong for
people to erect unauthorized roads signs in front of their properties.
