Bono Rapper, Kwame Nana Gyabaah popularly known as Kooko has
said it has not been easy propagating the Bono language through his music.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Melvina Frimpong Manso
on Suncity 97.1 FM’s Showbiz 971 in Sunyani, Kooko revealed that he dealt with
a lot of heckles before he reached where he is now.
The ‘Obiaato’ hit maker posited that he did not let people’s
negative comments affect what he wanted to achieve.
“A lot of people laughed at me for using the Bono language
to sing.  They even prophesized that I
won’t reach anywhere with it. But that did not stop me from working hard,” he
said.
He recalled how a well-known lawyer made fun of him because
of his style of music.
“There is this lawyer who always mocks me for what I was
doing. He sometimes ask if I earn from it. Now, I am happy that I have proven
him wrong,” Kooko recounted.
The Sunyani-based rapper who has now signed a three-year record
deal worth Ghc 500,000 with Nana Mosi Bansere (a Traditional Priest in
Techiman) averred that he is ready to work harder.
He called on authorities to help write the Bono language.
Kooko noted that the culture of the people of Bono will be
lost if the language is not written.
“We have Asante Twi, Akuapem Twi and others…so why can’t we
have Bono-Twi?” he queried.

Kooko added that he is ready to send a petition to the
President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to help put measures in place
so that the Bono language could be written.
He is current promoting his single track titled ‘Video Bi’.
What do you think about Kooko’s efforts to get the Bono
language written?
