The Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Hon. Freda Prempeh has observed that there were more questions than answers on the Saglemi Housing project initiated by the erst-while National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
According to the Minister, there were inconsistencies in the number of houses earmarked under the project at the cost of $200m (Two hundred million U.S dollars). The original figure was 5000 houses, but other records have it at 1500, 1502 and 1,024 units.
Interestingly, she said, 99.11% of the project amount has been accessed by the NDC government, leaving a paltry Ghc400m at the disposal of the current NPP government.
Speaking in an interview with Suncity Radio’s Nana KAS, on Friday, Hon. Prempeh debunked the notion that the project had been abandoned, and urged Ghanaians to exercise patience while the authorities straighten up the rough edges, for the project to come to fruition.
She took a swipe at the Daily Graphic for not doing due diligence on the project before carrying it on their front page, on Friday, March 16, 2018.

“I didn’t expect this from a media house like the Graphic,” she lamented.
