Popular Ghanaian gospel musician, Evangelist Akwasi Nyarko, has opened up on how his ex-girlfriend masterminded his kidnap.
He said he wanted to help his ex-girlfriend who asked Ghc 300 from him to pay her daughter’s school fees, not knowing she has planned with others to extort money from him.
“I showed her where I was. She came and I picked her in my car. I even asked her during our conversation in the car if it was not a trap but she said no.”
“When we got to her place somewhere at Agric Kromoase [a suburb of Kumasi], she asked me to enter the room to talk to her daughter. As I entered the room, she locked the door.
“It was then that the supposed husband and his friend who is said to be working with TV3 entered the room, pounced on me and started taking videos,” he narrated in an interview with Kumasi-based Otec FM.
The musician further said, “They asked me to call my wife to bring my car papers so they could take ownership of it. But I told them my wife is not even in town and she does not even know where the papers were. They later asked me to call my manager to send me 300 million (GHC30,000) to be given to them.”
When they realised it was not possible to get the money, his attackers who had kidnapped him from about 8:30 am to 2:00 pm decided to sell the car. He then led them to a car dealer friend of his who helped him to get them arrested.
The two men and the lady were arrested and detained at the Suame Police Station since Thursday and are to be put before the court this week.
