Ghanaian dancehall and reggae artiste, Emmanuel Andrews Samini, popularly known as Samini, has hit back at critics who think his music career has dipped.

Speaking in an interview with Lexis Bill on Joy F M’s Behind the Fame show, Samini stated that he is still having a fruitful career.

According to him, he was inactive for some time due to other businesses that he is into.

“I was doing other things so my concentration shifted. My focus did not shift because I was broke, I had a different focus at the time,” he said.

Samini hinted that he will release a reggae album in December, the same month that his Saminifest will be held.

The title of his upcoming reggae album is yet to be disclosed.

Samini has released six studio albums, with all being highly successful on the commercial market. Samini’s success and recognition began when his first single, Linda, was released and subsequently appearing on other successful singles by other artistes.

He started singing in a church choir at the age of 14, and became a professional musician after a musical collaboration with another musician in 1999.

His debut studio album, Dankwasere, was released in 2004; it topped the local music charts for weeks and won two awards at the Ghana Music Awards. The album was supported by the single “Linda”.
