Enterprising Kumasi-based Gospel musician, Lady Christus, has stated that there is no need for payola to be legalised in the country.

She said payola must be something which is done free willingly.

“We need not legalise payola. What is payola, how did it come into being? We must know what it is about. If you are to motivate somebody to play your songs, why must it be legalised? It must be done free willingly,” Lady Christus said in an interview with DJ Murphy Lee on Bohye FM’s Midmorning Groove in Kumasi–which was monitored by the News Hunter Magazine.

Lady Christus, who is also an accountant at Kwesi Oppong Senior High School emphasised that she ventured into music due to the love she has for the work of God. According to her, she see it as a ministry.

“I am not doing music because of the business side; I am using music to propagate the word of God,” she indicated.

Lady Christus, however, admitted that there is a tough competition within the Ghanaian music scene.
She was ushered into the Ghanaian music scene with her maiden album ‘Ebeye Yie’ which was released in 2016.

Currently, Lady Christus is promoting her second album titled ‘Gyata Bi Ba’ which is scheduled to be launch in November this year.

She revealed that the ‘Gyata Bi Ba’ album consists of ten (10) songs.

Asked when her fans should expect her next project, Lady Christus answered, “The video is almost ready. If God willing I will release a new song next year. The song is a gift from God, so all my fans should watch out for more.”
