Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has turned a year older today.

Wednesday, October 17, 2018, marks the 34th year of the ‘Ayo’ hitmaker.

Over the weekend, he hosted a successful launched of his latest album titled ‘The Reign’ in Accra.

Shatta Wale has carved a niche for himself after he took a break from the Ghanaian music scene some years ago.

In 2015, he successfully recorded and released ninety-nine (99) songs, an achievement yet for a musician in recent years.
His After the Storm album launch attracted over 50,000 fans who gathered in Black Star Square, the first event of its kind in Ghanaian entertainment industry history. The album contains 22 songs and received generally positive review from critics.
In March 2017, Shatta Wale teamed up with his Militants to release “Taking Over”, which received acclaim from critics locally and internationally. It also became Shatta Wale’s biggest song in 2017. “Taking Over” was also the most searched for song on Google Ghana in 2017. Some also argue that “Ayoo” which includes his numerous hits in 2017 did more magic than “Taking Over”. As at January 2018 the song has had over 6 million views on YouTube.
Wale is the most awarded dancehall artist in Africa and second most awarded musician in Ghana. He releases close to 100 songs each year comprising reggae, dancehall and Afrobeats. In 2014, he peaked number 38 on E.tv‘s “Top 100 Most Influential Ghanaians” Awards chart. He has since appeared on the chart each year. He was ranked “Most Influential Musician” on social media in 2017.
Happy Birthday To Shatta Wale!
