The CEO of Media For Development Foundation a human rights nonprofit
media advocacy organization in Sunyani Mr. Emmanuel O. Appiah has called on all
Ghanaians to help protect our forest.

According to him as the world celebrate world forest day, it
is necessary for all Ghanaians to come together and protect the forest that we
have.

The CEO disclosed this at a press interaction in Sunyani.
Mr. Emmanuel O. Appiah said the theme for this year’s
celebration is “forest and water is appropriate because food security depends
on water security and water security depends on forest. “
“We should all come together and fight very hard to protect
and sustained our forest. “
He added that Ghanaians should strive to protect and restore
the country’s ecosystems, so all our unique native plants and animals can live
and thrive.
“Survival of many of our species depends on positive action
we take now, before it is too late. It is sad to note that chainsaw operators
cut down tress without replanting some to replace it. Climate is changing due
to our behavior towards our forest. Bush fire destroyed most of our forest
reserves—and it’s time for us rise and protect the little that we have,” he
stated.
