Veteran Ghanaian highlife artiste, George Jahraa has waded into the legalization of marijuana campaign in the country.

The ‘Ashikele’ composer explained in an interview on Hitz FM why Ghanaian authorities should legalize the usage of marijuana.

“I think the government should legalize it. It is legalized in many countries. A prominent person like the late Kofi Annan added his voice to it, he said it should be decriminalized,” he stated.

“No, I don’t use it…but I have been a young boy before and in my youthful days I did some wrong things but at this age, I don’t think I will ever indulge in that,” George Jahraa posited after he was asked whether he has used marijuana before.

“I will never condemn anyone using it because, in some countries, it is legalized,” the renowned musician added.

When the interviewer asked why he is pushing for something he won’t use to be legalized, he answered: “It won’t be logic for me to say Kofi Annan used it because he also called for it used to be decriminalized. If I am joining this campaign, it doesn’t mean I am using it, I am following what Kofi Annan said.”

A section of Ghanaian celebrities over the time has called for the legalization of marijuana and it appears this call won’t end anytime soon.
