The government official vehicle of the National Youth Authority in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Region has been stolen in Sunyani.
Speaking in an interview with this reporter, Madam Fati Bamba, the region’s director said the vehicle, a white TOYOTA HILUX PICK UP with registration number GV 379-18 was stolen at her bungalow at 0140 hours of Wednesday.
According to her, she “heard dogs backing at the time and waked up, looking through the windows I saw three guys, one in the car and other two pushing it backwards”.
“One of the two guys pushing the vehicle was in Yellow shirt with the other wearing ‘PE pant’, she described.
Madam Fati added that “I began shouting and the two pushing the vehicle began to run away before the one in the vehicle start the engine and move with the car”.
But the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA), a youth organization in Sunyani, after a discussion with Madam Fati urged the government to install vehicle tracking devices in all government vehicles.
Mr. Akomea Sakyi, the association’s Secretary in an interview said the tracking devices could help trace the location of any stolen cars.
He added that there is a need to fence all government bungalows and ensure their security.
Mr. Sakyi pleaded with the security personals at the borders to strictly check all movement, particularly at the night of that hour.
