Ghanaian gospel musician, Akesse Brempong has called for more attention to be given to gospel music industry in the country.

Though he agrees the gospel music industry is now getting some recognition and attention, Akesse asserted there is more should be done.

“One of the things you can’t deny is that there’s a shift. There’s a shift in the music landscape in Ghana and now gospel music is getting some form of attention.

“It didn’t use to be like that…We didn’t use to pay much attention to gospel music, but now gospel music is getting some form of attention,” he told Benjamin Akakpo on Class 91.3 FM.

He added: “Even in the gospel music circles, there’s a shift going on. It used to be traditional gospel, now there’s some light shed on contemporary gospel.

“And, so, one of the things I believe is that contemporary gospel is that kind of movement that will export the Ghanaian gospel music, so, I believe that some attention needs to be paid to gospel music. Look at the legends of gospel music that we have in the country and juxtapose them to the attention we pay gospel music, I think it’s small. Gospel music needs more attention.”

Currently, Akesse Brempong is promoting his latest song ‘Blessed’ which featured Joe Mettle.
